ROCKFIELD DAIRY – VELVET CLOUD

Rockfield Dairy specialises in the production of Sheep's milk, yogurt, and cheeses, marketed under the brand Velvet Cloud. We have also recently launched a clows milk cheese under the brand Cloonbook. Velvet Cloud live yogurt can be found in over 150 retail outlets and is featured on the menus of top-rated restaurants across the country. Velvet Cloud Soft Sheeps Milk cheese or Labneh is sold under own label to a high-end food service distributor in the UK – called Belazu, this is a significant export contract for the business. Rockfield by Velvet Cloud is a semi-hard cheese with a natural rind. Currently, it can be found in independent specialty food stores, and is also used by high-end food service establishments. While there has been interest expressed by customers in export markets supply and efficiency constraints, have prevented us from considering these markets for now. To deal with limiting volumes of sheeps milk, but to continue to grow turnover faster than sheep milk volumes allow, we have also developed a cow’s milk cheese - Cloonbook . This cow cheese is produced using the same process as that used for Rockfield Sheep's Cheese. In 2024 this cheese won Best New Farmhouse Cheese in Ireland, which has secured us a listing with ALDI for cow's cheese commencing Spring 2025. In addition to yogurt and cheese, Rockfield Dairy produces limited quantities of sheep's milk. This milk is sold blast frozen to health food retail outlets and high-end food service.
