Bord Bia attended a number trade shows in recent months with more planned this summer. These trade shows have given a variety of quality Irish food and drink companies the opportunity to showcase their sustainable and innovative products to an international audience.
Recent Trade Fairs
PLMA, May 31 – June 1, Amsterdam
16 Irish companies from across categories including bakery, dairy, nutrition and value-added meats presented their sustainable products and private label capabilities at the RAI Exhibition Centre in Amsterdam. PLMA had a record number of attendees this year, highlighting the importance of private label to consumers at this time. This was a successful show for many Irish suppliers, connecting them with key international customers.
Innovation was a key theme at PLMA as presented by the Idea Supermarket and the International Salute to Excellence Awards. Two Irish suppliers were displayed in the Idea Supermarket; Glenilen for their Live Yoghurt with Irish Blackberry and Strawberry and East Coast Bakehouse for their Vegan Cookies in 4 different flavours. Other key private label trends from the show also included protein alternatives as well as sustainable and reduced packaging.
ProWein, 15th – 17th May, Dusseldorf
ProWein is the world’s leading trade fair for wines and spirits with 5,700 exhibitors from 62 countries. It took place in Düsseldorf from May 15th – 17th after a 3-year hiatus due to Covid-19. Bord Bia supported 21 Irish suppliers in showcasing their premium spirits at ProWein this year including Teelings, Five Farms, Glendalough Distillery plus many more brands. Irish whiskey, gin, craft beer, pre-mixed cocktails and Irish Cream Liqueur were all on show, each sustainably produced under our national sustainability programme, Origin Green.
Upcoming Trade Fairs
Biofach, Nuremberg
Similarly, Biofach is the world’s leading trade fair for Organic foods and will take place from July 26th-29th in Nuremberg. This is a once-off summer edition and will be a hybrid event, both in person and online.
Our vibrant Bord Bia Ireland stand has proved to be a huge success in previous trade fairs in terms of connecting with customers and highlighting the sustainability of Ireland’s food and drink industry.
